In case you have any hopes for this guy, he establishes himself pretty quickly as that guy that you would never let a friend or a daughter of yours marry. I find this as a beautifuly structured novel, I simply recommend this book and I give Angeles a five mastreyta rating. This is a story about love, not only romantic love, but love between huband and wife, love for family, love for friends, for knowledge, for passion and for justice. No me esperaba mucho de este libro pero he pasado un buen rato con Catalina.

Afterwards, as the novel is advancing, Catalina finds out about strong criticism against her husband, of his power struggles and of the assassination accusations that fall over him. I enjoyed being transported into the rhelm of instability in Mexican politics of the late 19th and early 20th century. It has very interesting political undertones as Catalina the protagonist marries Andres Ascencio, who is something of a politician but whose main role is that of the hand behind the curtain pulling at the puppets’ strings.
Mastretta began mastreyta as a journalist for a Mexican magazine, Siete and an afternoon newspaper, Ovaciones. Its sense of humor is very good, it has really hilarious moments, and the depiction of Mexican society in the 30’s and 40’s is superb.

Mi escena favorita fue cuando otro general y sus amigos tienen una fiesta donde presumen a sus Emilia’s father was a pharmacist, and she starts to study under him and grow her own passion but for medicine. El libro ha sido distinto de libos que esperaba.
